Aditi Mahavidyalaya, one of the premier institutions of higher education, was founded in 1994. Aditi in Indian mythology means the Mother Earth who gave birth to the Puranic Gods. Aditi Mahavidyalaya too, fortunately, still has the feel of the nature. So it is not a mere coincidence that Aditi Mahavidyalaya was founded to honour the strength of Indian women and to bring out the talent latent in the daughters of the raw ethnic India. Aditi Mahavidyalaya aims to bring diverse streams of college education to the students of the northwest Delhi. This mahavidyalaya is a trailblazer of sorts in recognizing and fostering the talents in educationally underprivileged groups as well.

The courses run by Aditi Mahavidyalaya are designed to impart the students with relevant knowledge and skills well suited to the students to become self-reliant. Professional courses like Bachelor of Hindi Journalism, Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.), B.A. (Hons.) in Social Work, B.A.(Hons.) Geography and B.Com.(Hons.) are some of the course which empower thestudents to the practical needs of getting a secured job. For a general student, Aditi offers graduate courses in B.Com. and B.A. Program with a diverse range of subjects. It started with a strength of 239 students and has witnessed a meteoric rise in number of students seeking admission to the college in recent years. College is equipped with specialized laboratories, well-stocked library and extensive playgrounds. Besides, its infrastructural facilities, college is unique in terms of healthy teacher-student interactions.

At the inception Aditi was considered far-flung in Delhi, but thanks to Delhi’s expansion to the northwest; it has now become easily reachable. Premier institutions like Delhi College of Engineering has moved close to Aditi, helping to make the location a hub for college students. Delhi Metro provides Aditi an easy connectivity to the rest of Delhi.

Aditi Mahavidyalaya is proud of the academic commitment of its caculty, which has several achievements to its credit and has made valuable contribution to the creation of a congenial academic ethos. Its students are deeply conscious of the leadership potential of women and they are constantly inspired to build a community devoid of discrimination and oppression. Students’ creativity is evident in wide-ranging co-curricular and extra-curricular activities organized by the various societies and associations working under the guidance of the staff advisors. The sports wing of the college is vigorous and vibrant, and h as won many trophies and medals and continues to foster the spirit of healthy competition. The NCC cadets have enthusiastically participated in training and adventure camps and have won many distinctions. The National Service Scheme of the college has won tremendous acclaim through dedicated community service by trying to reach out to the underprivileged sections of the society and by creating in the college volunteers a sense of dedicated service.

Aditi Mahavidyalaya has a very small history of 14 years. However, l;ike it happens with every good social experiment, Aditi, too now has a much bigger canvas which boasts of successful alumni and wider cross section of professional teachers and students aspiring to be professional in their own rights.
